Welcome to Year 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Year 3! Here is some information that you may find helpful.

Teachers:

Miss Rockingham is the Year 3 full time class teacher with Mrs Buckley working as the class teaching assistant Monday-Friday.

General Information:

The Year 3 classroom is upstairs. Children will enter school via the main fire exit on the KS2 playground. All children enter through this door. We also dismiss through the same door. Please can I ask that where possible you stand in a similar place on the playground each day so we know where to look for you. We will not let children go unless we have waved/acknowledged each child/ren's responsible adult.

Dojo/Communication:

As before I will be contactable via Dojo, I will endeavour to upload any important information onto the portal that you may need. Please do not send outside the hours of 8am-5pm. I will do my best to respond to any questions or queries you may have as soon as I can but please note that messages may not be replied to straight away due to teaching commitments. .

PE:

Our PEs day are Tuesday and Friday. Children should come in their kit on Tuesdays and bring their kits to change into on Fridays.

Equipment:

Children are not required to bring pencil cases; we will provide all the necessary equipment for each child. We would ask that your child bring a full water bottle to school each day, please can we request that the bottles contain only water and not juice as in the past we have had issue with ants. In KS2 children usually only have snack during first break. School provide fruit or the children can bring fruit from home.

Reading:

Please aim to listen to your child read their book at least 3 times per week. We have a reading challenge for the children to complete but I will send an additional letter explaining this. Along with the books we send home we would also encourage children to read other books, both fiction and non-fiction and these can also be written in the record book. We ask for their reading book/record to be in their bag every day at school.

Homework:

We will be continuing to send home maths homework. This will be a mixture of time tables work, arithmetic and revision sheets based upon what we are learning/ have been learning in class. Maths will be given out each Thursday. Please bring it back to school the following Thursday.
